TOKYO (Reuters) - Lovelorn staff at a Japanese marketing company can take paid time off after a bad break-up with a partner, with more "heartache leave" on offer as they get older.
Tokyo-based Hime & Company, which also gives staff paid time off to hit the shops during sales season, says heartache leave allows staff to cry themselves out and return to work refreshed. "Not everyone needs to take maternity leave but with heartbreak, everyone needs time off, just like when you get sick," CEO Miki Hiradate, whose company of six women markets cosmetics and other goods targeted for women, told Reuters by telephone.
Staff aged 24 years or younger can take one day off per year,
while those between 25 and 29 can take two days off and those older can take
three days off, the company said.
"Women in their 20s can find their next love quickly, but
it's tougher for women in their 30s, and their break-ups tend to be more
serious," Hiradate said.
Hime & Company staff can also take two mornings off
twice a year as "sales shopping leave", so they can race to stores to
hunt for bargains.
"Before, women could take half-days off to go to sales,
but you'd have to hide your shopping bags in lockers by the train station,"
Hiradate said.
"But with paid leave, we don't have to feel guilty about bringing our shopping bags to work, and we can enjoy the best part about sales shopping -- talking about our purchases afterwards."

I could have seriously used this a few times.
It is horrible to have to go to work and fight off the urge to cry every minute of the day. You end up just avoiding people in general, you can't focus on what you are doing and it's really just a waste of company time.
Just let me stay home under the covers and I'll make it up later...
definitely fair play for those of us that didn't take maternity leave or have to leave to take our kids to the doctor, etc.

Difficult situations and touchy conversations are always made easier when you are frank and open about how you are feeling. Facts and figures are indisputable, but feelings can be easily modified -- and this is not a good thing. Do not change how you express yourself out of fear that you will trigger a bad response. Like it or not, there is no point in saying anything unless you say the truth. You'll never be able to make real progress any other way.

smitten
The one year mark might just be the target.
After a tough year (romantically), things are looking pretty darn good.
Yeah yeah, I know. I've had a phenomenal year otherwise, I visited 6-7 new countries. I've moved back to America and able to see my friends and family ANY time I wish. And I'm finally at the point of letting go all the bad stuff I've been holding onto.
It's amazing that my move to Germany many years ago had such a profound impact on my life and now once again, a German influence might be impacting me once again. Even if it doesn't pan out, I am once again able to feel things that make it all worthwhile.

The world's energy is feeling quite a bit louder right now, and it might create some stress in your day. Don't be surprised if you start feeling unusually introverted -- nothing will appeal to you more than crawling into bed and hiding away from the world. This isn't necessarily a case of the blues, more like a case of the blahs. Honor your feelings by trying to escape from the hubbub that is going on around you.
